Slenderman (2018)
Posters/ artwork
Marketing:
On January 2, 2018, the first teaser poster was revealed, with a teaser trailer the following day. Reactions were mixed, with some online publications describing the trailer as taking a "traditional, low-budget horror route". After the trailer's online debut, Bill Weier, the father of one of the children convicted in the stabbing, protested the film's production and release as "extremely distasteful" and advised local theaters to not screen the film.A second trailer was released on July 26, 2018.

This poster uses the colour pallet ( black, grey and orange ) to create fear and connotes darkness in this disaster movie. The orange is used to almost make the important text stand out. The use of sans serif implies that it isn't a delicate film but makes it seem more serious, scary almost. Also the black skies make it seem like the towns abandoned because of the 'virus' and with no one to take care of it, the fog thickens. Also it seems like there are some helicopter-like vehicles in the background, suggesting that a third party is involved ( possibly the military ) This makes it seem more interesting because if a third party is involved, the 'virus' may be more dangerous than what meets the eye.
Also the use of imagery helps the audience know what this movie is ( possibly ) about. With the virus in front of the town suggests the it has already been took over by this 'virus'. The actors and release date are also in orange to show us, the viewer, which famous actors are starring in this disaster film, with the orange colour to make it stand out. The release date is also in orange to interest the viewer to go watch it when the film comes out. The tagline also spooks the reader and draws us in to go watch the film by saying 'some things has found us', making people want to know what the producers mean by this, making us curious and wanting to watch the film when it releases.

May the fourth be with you (04/05/21)
I used genre conventions for colour and placement ( Thanks Miss :D ) I am pleased with my title placement as it does not really get in the way. I would improve the image placement as it is a bit slanted.
A great poster.
ReplyDeleteWWW - you've incorporated lots of the disaster conventions
EBI - you look more carefully at the placement, size and conventions of the text elements.
